In 2023, we were contacted by a client whose student visa and a reconsideration application had been declined. The client had become unlawful, as a result. They were in the final year of their graduation and having become unlawful, they were looking at returning to their home country without completing their qualification.
We submitted a Section-61 request that INZ refused to even consider. We submitted another Section-61 request, which was also not considered. We then contacted the Visa Operations Manager at Palmerston North Branch and explained our client’s situation. INZ asked us to submit another Section-61 request, after which a visitor visa was granted to the client and become lawful again. The client’s subsequent student visa application was also approved and they are on their way to complete their degree course now.
