Important Changes to the Active Investor Plus Visa from 1 April 2025

Exciting news for potential investors! From 1 April 2025, the Active Investor Plus Visa will undergo significant changes to attract high-value investments and simplify the process for migrants. Here’s a brief overview of the key updates:

Key Updates for InvestorPlus Visa:

New Investment Categories:

• Growth Category: Minimum investment amount of NZD$5 million.
• Balanced Category: Minimum investment amount of NZD$10 million.

Expanded Acceptable Investments:

• Bonds and property investments (new residential, new/existing commercial or industrial developments) under the InvestorPlus Visa.

Fewer Immigration Requirements:

• Reduced time required to be spent in New Zealand for those choosing more active investments through the InvestorPlus Visa.

Investment Timeframe:

• 6 months to complete investments, with an optional 6-month extension.

No English Language Requirement:

• The changes also remove the English language requirement for the InvestorPlus Visa.

Included Industries for Investments:

• Growth Category: Managed funds, direct investments in New Zealand businesses.
• Balanced Category: Bonds (Government, local government, corporate), listed equities, philanthropy, property development (new residential, new/existing commercial or industrial developments).

Excluded Sectors:

• Gambling and casinos, firearms and weapons manufacturing, alcohol and tobacco production, adult entertainment.
